ROSA'S STORY

Rosa A Garcia-Zapata was born and raised Paterson, NJ, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree while working full-time at State Farm Insurance Company.  Rosa had two sons, Joshua and Jovan, whom she spent all of her time and energy on.  During her free time, she played soccer with friends and enjoyed dancing and watching her boys dance Marinera and engage in Taekwondo.  During a doctor's visit for a sprained ankle, her doctor noticed her cough, and sent her for a chest X-ray.  Two days later, Rosa was hospitalized and diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer.  After eight bouts of chemotherapy and accompanying brain radiation, Rosa lost her battle to Lung Cancer after only 18 months.  At 39 years old, recently married to wonderful man, and with amazing family and friends, Rosa was forced to leave us.  Today, the Rosa A Garcia Lung Cancer Association (RAGLCA) keeps her memory alive by raising awareness regarding this terrible disease, fully knowing that if Rosa had been screened much sooner, she'd be here with us today.  Please join us in honoring our very dear Rosa, as well as the thousands of other lives lost to Lung Cancer.
